What is Weekend University?

Weekend University is NJIT’s premier program for professionals to earn a certificate leading to a degree. WEU is a flexible academic program built for working adults an offers an opportunity to earn a B.S. in Information Technology, a B.S. in Information Systems, a Graduate Certificate in either Information Systems Implementation or Project Management, a M.S. in Engineering Management, or a M.S. in Information Systems.

Do I need SAT scores?

No, you do not need SAT scores for acceptance into the Weekend University.

What are the admission requirements?

For the undergraduate certificate you must provide proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent. For the graduate certificate you must have obtained a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA or 2.8 or higher. Please speak with a Continuing Professional Education Representative regarding GPA requirements, 800-624-9850 or email cpe@njit.edu.

Where will I take classes?

Courses are offered partially onsite at the Newark campus each semester and partially online. Current WEU courses are listed at http://cpe.njit.edu/current. All NJIT courses can be reviewed at http://www.njit.edu/registrar, and once admitted you will use the Highlanader Pipeline to register and view student information http://my.njit.edu .

What is the partially online aspect of WEU classes like?

Each WEU course is offered in Hybrid mode which combines inclass and online learning. Classes meet for 1.5 hours each or every other week, with the other half of class time spent online. This allows a student to take more classes with less class time.

How do I register?

Once you have been admitted to NJIT, visit the Highlander Pipeline at http://my.njit.edu to self-register.

How do I pay my bill?

You can pay your bill, using a credit card, via the Highlander Pipeline at http://my.njit.edu. Alternatively, you may pay by check at the NJIT Bursar’s office.

Where do I park?

NJIT has many student parking lots. Register at http://www.njit.edu/v2/parking and you can park in any student lot, including the multi-level NJIT parking deck on the NJIT campus.

Is there a place to get food and beverages on campus?

You can find food and beverages in the NJIT Campus Center and snack machines in most buildings.

Is financial aid available?

You can file for financial aid with the Financial Aid office. They can also be reached at 973-596-3479 to help you determine eligibility.

Are there campus computers available?

NJIT has many computer labs for students. The three main labs are located in the Campus Center basement, the 1st floor of the Library, and in the Student Mall (parking Deck building).

How do I find out who my advisor is?

Call the Weekend University office at 973-596-3062 to find out your assigned advisor.

What happens if I need to take a semester off?

NJIT allows students to maintain their registration for up to two consecutive semesters. There is a nominal fee to maintain registration. The benefit of maintaining registration is that you do not have to re-apply to NJIT.
