Weekend University Program Students in Information Technology
The College of Computing Sciences and the IT program offer the BSIT Degree. Under certain circumstances, the IT Program may allow an IT student in the Weekend University Program to receive Credit by Examination (CBE) when a student’s background and experience significantly exceed the requirements of a particular course.
CBE is limited to a maximum of 2 first year courses (listed as IT 1XX). Students with advanced preparation and experience in the areas of IT 220 and IT 230 may be offered the opportunity to substitute an advanced course in place of these courses. In all cases, CBE and course substitution are offered solely at the discretion of the IT Program.
If you would like to pursue this method of prior learning, you will be placed in contact with the corresponding department’s advisor and state why you believe you have the necessary skills to pass the test. If approved, the advisor will give you a syllabus and schedule a time to take a test. This is done on a case-by-case basis and each academic department has the right to refuse any student. To find out how to proceed with Departmental Testing, contact the Weekend University office.
Costs: $50 per exam (non-refundable).
If you have any questions about prior learning assessment, please contact the Coordinator of Weekend University, Matthew Kitchen, by phone at 973-596-3203 or email at kitchen@njit.edu.
