The Smart Way to Earn a Degree for Professionals

NJIT Weekend University for high tech professionals is a flexible academic program designed for working adults that offers an opportunity to earn a BS in Information Technology (BS IT), a BS in Information Systems (BS WIS), a MS in Engineering Management (MS EM), or a MS in Information Systems (MS IS). While heading back to school as an adult is not easy, the degree program enables adults to take a small step by studying part-time through a combination of classroom and online learning. A 24- credit Undergraduate Certificate or 12- credit Graduate Certificate is the first credential earned in progress towards the full degree. In this way, working adults earn two credentials for the price of one. Certificates available are:

The program is designed to accommodate the lifestyle of working adults.

All classes are only one-and-a-half hours long, held on Friday evening and Saturdays, and either meets on campus once per week or every other week while study continues throughout the semester. As a result, the flexible study schedule permits students to take more classes per semester and earn a degree faster.

Admission Criteria

  • Have completed at least 15 semester hours, including:
    • English composition
    • Mathematics (pre-calculus is required)
  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.0


High Demand Areas of Study

The areas offered are considered high demand career tracks as designated by the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development in their "Top 50 Jobs" brochure. Thus, it is the goal of the program to enhance students' long-term career potential.
