This certificate program prepares managers and professionals to effectively manage information to increase operational efficiency to gain competitive advantage. Courses cover the role of effective information management in monitoring and improving business processes as managing knowledge to drive innovation.

What will I learn?

  • Knowledge Management where students will have a comprehensive framework for designing and implementing a successful knowledge management effort and be able to assist in the development of knowledge.
  • Data Mining and Analysis which provides an introduction to data mining with an emphasis on large scale databases as a source of knowledge generation and competitive advantage.
  • Managing the Digital Firm focuses on the digital processes that are transforming organizations and on managing all aspects of the digital firm. Topics include managing a virtual workforce, managing digital technologies, and protecting and leveraging digital assets.
  • Management of Telecommunications includes a comprehensive review of current trends in telecommunications with an emphasis on the techniques required by non-technically trained managers to deal with hardware, software, and human interfaces.
  • Information Systems Principles incorporates management of information processing resources, including: role of information processing, estimates of personnel resources and budgets, integration of corporate and MIS plans, organizational alternatives for MIS departments and support staffs, management of computer operations, equipment and general software acquisitions, intermediate and long-range MIS plans, integration of personal computers, minicomputers, and mainframes, and security and controls.
  • Decision Support Systems for Managers covers the use of decision support systems to support management decision making in a real world environment.
