Why Study Information Technology?

As the convergence of telecommunications and computing, information technology is the foundation of the 21st century economy. The bureau of labor statistics ranks the profession as the number one fastest growing profession over the next ten years. The B.S. in Information Technology offers a multidisciplinary approach, allowing students to choose a specific area to apply computing and telecommunications technologies. The program balances emphasis on software and hardware applications with an array of concentrations in many fields.

Why Study Information Technology at NJIT?

As America’s most wired public university, NJIT offers one of the most computing intensive campuses in the nation. Information technology is an intrinsic part of the campus culture, and every department, from architecture to transportation, actively works to advance the state of the art in computing applications.

In addition, New Jersey offers many career opportunities, with the nation’s fourth largest concentration of jobs in data processing and information services and the eighth largest in high tech employment, as well as the second highest wages in the country for technology workers.

Why study information technology through CPE?

CPE gives you options. In addition to taking courses at NJIT’s Newark campus, you can enroll in online courses. You’ll have access to the same outstanding facilities and professors as full-time NJIT students, plus the flexibility you need to juggle all the aspects of your life.

Prerequisites

Beyond NJIT’s regular admission requirements, there are no prerequisites for entering the program. But some individual courses require that students have either taken certain foundational classes or passed placement tests. Check the course descriptions for more details.
