Cloud Operations Management

Cloud Operations course is all about empowering the student to become an operations specialist – from day one on the job. Student will be able to learn ins and outs of cloud operations industry – putting up servers, instances, storage across all the leading cloud vendors (Windows Azure, Rackspace, Heroku & Digital Ocean). Multiple labs and reading assignments across all the above Cloud Vendors. Depending on available time, basics of Google & IBM Cloud Services will also be covered. Windows Azure will be used as baseline for all deep dive labs. Students will also be introduced to DevOps concepts such as Chef and Puppet along with labs in Chef.

Team based Project

1. Set up Cloud Server Accounts with at least 4 Cloud Providers a. Capture screenshots of 4 cloud Servers, b. identify key conceptual differences between each of the Cloud providers, c. What kind of customers prefer each of these Cloud Providers. Your analysis.

2. Compare any 5 Cloud Providers across following topics:

a. Hypervisor, b. Compute Models, c. Costs, d. Tools, e. Local Environment Tools, f. Security, g. add-ons for email, logging, monitoring.

Students who successfully complete the labs and finals get awarded the NJIT Cloud Operations Certificate with 3.2 CEUs.
