Pharmaceutical Engineering Fundamentals

Presented by NJIT and the North Jersey Section of the AIChE

This symposium was developed by the North Jersey Section of AIChE.  The intent of this program is to present an introduction to the engineering and regulatory elements of the pharmaceutical industry.  It is designed for individuals with an engineering/technical background seeking a familiarity with pharmaceutical operations. The symposium is also a review of engineering fundamentals often overlooked.

  • Overview of Pharmaceutical Industry with emphasis on applicable regulations
  • Water Systems, the common denominator for pharmaceutical operations
  • Fundamentals of Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Reactors, Bioreactors and Pressure Vessels
  • Fundamentals of Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM)
  • Tableting Operations
  • Parenteral Operations
  • Commissioning & Validation
  •  Basic Statistics and Six-Sigma Fundamentals
